Halloween Fashion: Its not Slut March!

Oh my dear Lord! Halloween has just gone, and I am going to do what I should have done years ago, and get up on my soap box to beg you girls out there to think carefully before you pick your costume! I saw some doozies this year, and I want to caution some girls out there before the same thing happens again in 2012.
If there is anything Tara Reid can teach us (I suspect this is the only thing,) its that whilst you might think you are looking pretty cute and sexy in your Barbie outfit at Halloween, you are probably actually looking cheap, trashy and wrong. These are the risks you take if you choose to take the ‘sexy’ Halloween option.
Sadly, what many people seem to forget is that your costume will not disguise you completely, so don’t wear something you think is to exposing or risky for any other night of the year. Besides that, you will most probably be photographed at some time in the night and that photographic evidence of your costume mishap will be around for years to come. Another concern is that wearing a really revealing outfit could get you a good deal of unwanted attention throughout the night, when you would rather just being having fun with your friends.
We here at Girlo have come up with some of our top tips for Halloween costuming, trick or treating and staying safe;
- Make sure what you wear is politically sensitive. Does anyone remember young Price Harry wearing a Nazi costume to a Halloween party a few years ago? That was pretty damn embarrassing.
“Try making your own costume and be inventive! This way you are less likely to bump in to another Cat Women at the party your going too. Or better still organise a group of friends and develop costumes as a group!”
- If you’re going trick or treating, only go to houses with some kind of Halloween decorations out the front. Unfortunately not everyone gets in to the Halloween spirit as much as you might!
- If you are tricking, make sure you tricks aren’t too destructive. Just because its Halloween you won’t be charged with destruction of property – you still have to be responsible for your actions.
- Make sure you tell someone where you are going. Scary things can happen on Halloween, and things can be even scarier if you get in to a scrape and no one knows where you might have got to!
- Finally, look out for yourself and look out for your friends. Things can get weird at this time of the year, and it’s a good idea to keep your eyes open and keep a clear head.
- Oh and don’t forget to send us your pics!
