Cleaning is an essential part of the religion in many cultures. In the Hindu culture of Bali, for example, the sweeping of the ground and subsequently making offerings to the Gods is a daily ritual that is faithfully observed. To the Balinese, the cleaning and clearing of the old energies (dead leaves and debris) is “bhakti”, which means it is a devotional manner of worship that cleanses the area to receive the fresh energies from the Gods.
